Unveiling of KAZA Elephant Survey Results and Launch Event
On this day, exactly a year ago, the first two flights took to the skies in Zimbabwe, marking the start of the flying component of the 2022 KAZA Elephant Survey. Flying was completed on 28 October 2022, resulting in a total of 700 hours of flying spread over 68 days spent collecting data.
KAZA Hosts the “ASA Goes KAZA” Familiarisation Tour

KAZA Concludes Destination Branding and Corporate Identity Stakeholder Consultative Workshops
The Kavango Zambezi Trans Frontier Conservation Area ( KAZA TFCA) Secretariat is working with Partner States, comprising the Republics of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, to develop a tourism destination brand and corporate identity for the TFCA. A South African tourism consulting firm, “the Journey”, has been commissioned to lead the initiative.

Flying for the KAZA Elephant Survey completed
The Kavango Zambezi Trans Frontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) Secretariat is pleased to announce that flying for the KAZA Elephant Survey was completed today, with the last flights taking place in the Zambezi region of Namibia, to survey south-eastern Angola, and in Sioma Ngwezi National Park in Zambia, to complete the count of a game management area there.

Meet Darren Potgieter: KAZA Aerial Survey Coordinator
Darren Potgieter was born in Nelspruit, South Africa just south of Kruger National Park, where he developed a passion for wilderness and wildlife. He has 15 years of professional experience in protected area management, having worked in Angola, Botswana, Zambia, Chad, Mozambique, and the Central African Republic, among others.
